Missoula Osprey 1 Helena Brewers 0

June 30, 2008
Tuesday night
With Erik and Marc
Helena, MT

I loved this ballpark. Old, old, old. It was built in 1932 and it felt like it. I loved it. It reminded me of the Danville Dans park. Apparently, this is the last season before renovations so I'm glad we made it just in time.

I love sitting so close. At one point, the Missoula manager was upset with a call and came running out of the dugout yelling, "No fucking way!" at the umpire. Loved it. Too bad the Helena fans started heckling the manager loudly because then we couldn't hear the rest of his tirade.
The game was quite interesting. We saw a no-hitter. It was the first time I've ever seen one in person. Granted, it was by three different pitchers - one of whom was Jesse Orosco, Jr. but still, a no-hitter is a no-hitter. The fans seemed completely non-plussed however. I guess they weren't happy that their team was the victim.
Erik and I got a bit drunk on two dollar Lewis and Clark's - an excellent local brew. The drinking probably explains why Erik played some tag with some kids. He also cut himself somehow while playing but the details are hazy.

We met a number of locals as Marc tried to find out where to hang out after the game. They encouraged us to keep drinking before heading out for the night and told us that drunk driving was the state pastime and was basically encouraged by everyone. They told us that Helena was the best place in the world to be. Apparently ...

Marc shows off his new hat.
The movie from the day can be found here.
