Friday night
with Erik, Marc, Mooney, and Paul
Queens
The Mets were desperate to fill the seats last September. So desperate they called me to offer me free box seats for a game. How could I say no?
Especially when the Wilpons were pulling out all the stops to make my experience as a fan a memorable one. Go Mets!
No complaints about the seats.
(photo by Mooney or Erik. At this point, I don't remember.)The most exciting thing about the game through the first few innings was Lucas Duda's first career home run. We had actually seen him play a couple of years ago in New Britain. I couldn't tell if he still looked like Matt Gentling or not.
Then we picked it up a notch from the cocoa butter we had won in July. Pizza race time!

Erik got our row pumped up to win.

We won!

And then for what seemed like the 56th time in 2010, Erik ended up on the scoreboard. This time, he brought Marc and me along for the ride. Still nothing beats this one though.

After the joy of victory subsided, I kind of wish we had lost. The pizza slice wasn't that great and led to some stomach problems later in the night. Damn you Wilpons!

Again - not sure who took the next 3 photos.

A few other things:
1. We saw Ron Darling after the game. He made it quite clear in a polite enough fashion that he had no interest in chatting with us.
2. Carlos Beltran started hitting a bit after this game but we realized that he had been paid over 4 million dollars per home run thus far in 2010. Ugly.
3. From Marc's Facebook status update:
Marc: My row just won the pizza race at Citifield. Thanks Casa-something! EC was champion team leader. We are all now eating our free slice! SHR: Amazing, that EC has the magic touch. Multiple jumbotron appearances, lucky cocoa butter row and now this! WHAT A SEASON!
Exactly. What a season. And 2011 promises more of the same, doesn't it?
Opening Day is only a few weeks away. And this year, I'm actually going to go to some spring training games for the first time ever. Exciting, no?
Braves: 84-64
Mets: 74-74
