After a day of betting on dogs and eating at Hooter's, it was time for my first ever spring training game. And all I can say is ... eh.

I was hoping for a relaxing vibe. What I got was an oversold ballpark where I couldn't even see anything or have any space.

Back when things were hopeful ...

The ballpark was built in 1991 - right before Camden Yards and the craze to build parks with ample standing room areas. There wasn't one at all here. But that didn't stop them from selling hundreds of standing room only tickets. Yet, there was nowhere to sit or stand to actually see the game. If we had gotten to the game early, we could have staked out a spot to stand in front of the second section of seats. Alas, we weren't early so we were pretty much screwed.

Jamie and I walked around the stadium a couple of times just to see some of the game.

There was one standing room area that was super packed. If I held my camera up high, I could see the game.

If I didn't hold my camera up high, this was the best I could hope for. Joe Mauer, Derrek Lee, and a huge schnozz. I think that is actually a song title on the new Baseball Project LP.

We left during the 5th inning right after Mauer hit. Luckily, we had a much better experience for our next game.
