Phillies 6 Mets 4

May 27, 2011
Friday night
with SHR, Sean, and Rebecca
Queens

This was Sean and Rebecca's first Mets game. In fact, I want to say this might have been Sean's first ever sporting event with more than 50 people in attendance but that might be a slight exaggeration.

The game was a pretty good one for the first 7 innings. The Mets took a 4-2 lead into the 7th. Chris Capuano continued his solid pitching, Jose Reyes stayed torrid, and Justin Turner had 4 hits. But it wasn't enough to withstand the rookie Domonoc Brown's late onslaught.

He entered the game in the 8th, singled, stole a base, and scored a run. In the 9th, he hit the game tying single as Francisco Rordiguez went onto to blow the save. Bah. The Mets lost their 5th game out of 6 after having played well for a number of weeks.

Right as SHR left the seats, the "official fan photographer" stopped by to take a photo. They clearly hate Koreans in Flushing.
Other things of note:
- Some Mets player (I can't remember who) has a 50 Cent song as his intro song. There were some complaints that the song was overplayed. I could proudly say that I had never heard it before because that's how out of the loop I am.

- Willie Harris's intro song is Michael Jackson's Pretty Young Thing which impressed Sean. We wondered if Harris was referring to himself as a pretty young thing.

- I learned what 4chan is. I had no idea. I'm not upset that I had never heard the 50 Cent song but am a bit annoyed I had no idea about this. But it did allow SHR and I the opportunity to tell Sean and Rebecca about the Opening Day where the Mets got Rickrolled.

- Sean and Rebecca filled us in on their recent visit to Pittsburgh and how we all are planning to move there one day if we could just get everyone in Brooklyn to join us.

- The Mets newbies were a bit taken aback by the stink that is Willets Point. Can you blame them?

First Mets game!!!!!
