Sunday afternoon
with Jason and three students
Queens
After a few years off from being bid on, it was time to be part of a school auction again. In the pre Double Trouble days, it used to be Sujan and me. This year, I asked a co-worker Jason if he wanted to join in the fun.
After the auction, we had a winner to take the place of David Wright. Congratulations Louis! But who would he choose to go with him?

Louis was very indecisive about who the third kid would be. Eventually, the decision was made but not in enough time to photoshop a new picture. Still, we got this nice shot in front of the apple.

We watched a couple of pitches from this vantage point before the kids let us know it was time to get some food.

We sat in our seats for maybe an inning or two. We did successfully convince the boys to fill out All Star ballots though.

None of the boys had had much experience at the batting cages. 9 pitches were tossed. None were even fouled off.

Jason and I spent a lot of time helping the boys pick out what souvenirs to buy. Louis couldn't decide what to buy. At the very last moment, he decided to plunk down 40 bucks or so on a Mets toaster. That's right - a contraption that makes Mets toast.
I tried to talk him out of it by reminding him that he liked the Yankees, not the Mets. He said, "Yeah, that's exactly why I want to buy this. So every morning, I can eat the Mets and destroy them." How can I argue with that logic?"

We dropped the boys off and I made Louis promise he'd have his mom send me a picture of the toast. Within a couple of hours, I received this brilliant pic.

Apparently, Vernon Wells went 3 for 4 with a homer and 3 RBI in this game but I'm not sure I even watched a pitch. Jon Niese got spanked (according to the boxscore.) Go Mets!
