Athletics 7 Mets 3

June 21, 2010
Tuesday night
with Marc and Matt
Queens

Dillon Gee lost his first game of the season to fall to 7-1. Jemille Weeks scored 3 runs. The A's won their 6th in a row after losing 13 out of 14. But the story of the night was somehow Marc injured himself while eating a pretzel.

This e-mail exchange occurred the next day.

Marc, "I just felt a throbbing pain in my finger. Realized the pain is from biting that finger last night."

Matt, "I already forgot, was that on the pretzel or the chicken fingers?"

Marc, "Pretzel. I like that I'll forget about this until Dan's write-up of the game. I don't think I'd know a single thing about any baseball game I've attended without those."

You're welcome Balgavy.

Speaking of pretzels, there was a discussion about what was worse - the pretzels at Shea Stadium or the pretzels at Penn Station. Having never had a Penn Station pretzel, I can't imagine they could be worse. Anyone out there ever sampled both?

Matt and I also discussed whether or not Gary Carter was actually good or not. I said yes. He said no. I think I won the argument once he actually bothered to look at his year-by-year stats.

Jose Reyes fell down at one point and Matt and I were amused at the thought of Otis yelling out, "Jose fall down." Or maybe I was the only one amused.

Matt was also amused at Jason Bay's choice of walk-up songs - Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam. He said it felt like it fit perfectly with what he'd picture Jason Bay would listen to.

Matt also wondered who would even want Carlos Beltran in a trade and insisted that the Mets wouldn't get anything good for him.

Zach Wheeler and I both like proving him wrong.
