Lowell Spinners 11 Cyclones 5

Monday afternoon

Brooklyn

The original plan for the 2011 Baseball Trip was to go to Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska. However, due to the declining health of my dad, I decided it made more sense to stay within a few hours drive of MD. Marc and Erik agreed and we quickly came up with a new plan for the trip. The first game was supposed to be on a Monday night on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

But ... when I was at the Cyclones game the day before, I found out that not only were the Cyclones playing a 12:00 game on Monday afternoon but that Jose Reyes was going to be playing his last rehab game before coming back to the Mets. I immediately thought one thing - two park doubleheader! Marc and Erik agreed and we quickly came up with a new plan for the trip. We figured if we left the game by 2:00, we wouldn't have a problem getting to the night game on time. It was a plan just crazy enough to work!

Just be prepared for a lot of Jose Reyes photos to follow.

Hey - look it's Jose Reyes playing shortstop!

Hey - look it's Jose Reyes at the plate!

The players were excited to watch Reyes hit as well.

I wasn't the only one taking photos of Jose.

Cheering for Jose.

The summer camp kids cared more about making a racket and being annoying than watching Jose.

Legging out a double.

On third. I was hoping he'd try to steal home. He didn't. But he did score.

After taking the field for the 7th, Jose was called off the field to rapturous applause. It was almost 2:00 anyway, so we took off. It was perfect timing.

How many hours to Delmarva?

The only other thing of note was that the dad of one of the Cyclones players was sitting right behind us. So if Cole Frenzel (7th round pick) ever makes it to the Mets, I'll always have that to put on my pedigree.
