Reds 7 Mets 3

What a terrible game. The Reds took a 4-0 lead by the 3rd inning. The Mets almost made it interesting by closing to within 3 runs in the 6th but then the Reds immediately scored two in the next inning. The game was a complete snoozefest.

Plus I missed the pregame ceremonies that Matt couldn't stop talking about. Apparently, there were some Japanese drummers, the cultural ambassador from Japan, Little League players (not Japanese), Aaron Carter (I had no idea who he was) sang the National Anthem, and Bill O'Reilly threw out the first pitch. I can't believe that new partial owner Bill Maher let that happen.

But the real story was that there was a postgame concert by REO Speedwagon.

Other things of note:
- When the Reds took a 4-0 lead, Erik's cry of "We want REO Speedwagon" went over well.

- Jason Bay dove for a ball at the wall and missed it. This led to an inside the park home run by Jay Bruce. Bay was led off the field to some polite applause but mostly to boos. Poor guy. We found out later that he had another concussion. Man, his Mets tenure has been a disaster. He had already missed 6 weeks with an injury this season. His 2012 numbers at this point are .187 with four home runs and six RBI. Wow.

- Matt warned us about his "Can of corn" and "2's across the board" cries that he was going to unleash on us during the baseball trip. But more on that in due time. I was surprised that Erik had never heard the phrase "Can of corn." And for the record, no one other than some special needs fans and Matts who loved them back in the day have any knowledge of "2's across the board."

Erik hid from the Wave.

Rockin' out to REO. For more, so so so much more, check here.
