Monday night
with Erik, Marc, Matt, and Liz
Queens
It was Star Wars night at the ballpark. Oh yay!
Matt finally got the lobster roll that he meant to buy in Miami a month earlier.
I really couldn't get enough of the Star Wars stuff.
Hey - it's Admiral Akbar!
Oh man.
We finally made our way through the stormtroopers and headed up the escalator. But watch out, Boba Fett was hot on our trail!
So ...
Some occurrences during the game:
- I think I uttered the phrase, "Jason Bay is going to turn me into a Yankees fan." And I think that I might have meant it. To which Erik heckled, "Grab a rake Jason and make yourself useful," to great applause.
- We gave Liz a hard time for bringing Matt down on the silencing of 2's across the board.
- I came up with the idea of a Rotten Tomatoes type app for rating one's friends. I'm convinced I can make millions.
- I shared that Sam and Otis recently had become quite excited to refer to the B57 bus as the Johan bus. I also debated whether or not I'd rather have my sons grow up to be Republicans or grow up to be Yankees fans. Considering the fact that I once initially said I'd root for the Osama Bin Laden Nine over the Yankees, this is a hard call to make.
- Speaking of Sam and Otis, it was Mets truck night at the ballpark. I arrived too late to get one but Erik (via Marc) kindly gave me one for the boys. Considering the fact that the boys played with this only once before Otis insisted we put it back in the packaging and that Erik sold one of these for 25 bucks a few hours after the game, I'm pretty sure I made the wrong decision in giving it to the boys.
As far as the game goes, I think it goes without saying, it was a doozy. A day after losing 8-3 in 12 innings, the Mets gave up 6 in the 10th inning of this one to lose 8-2. I missed Bryce Harper's first New York at-bat. I feel like a jerk since he hit a home run. Oh well. I did see him hit the tie breaking single in the 10th.
Sujan, watching at home, wasn't happy.
That was a tasty pretzel.
Check here for our fantastic Keith Olbermann experience on the subway after the game.
Mets: 47-49
