Mets 9 Giants 1

August 2, 2012
Thursday afternoon
with Sujan, Otis, and Sam
San Francisco

When we decided to take our family vacation in SF last summer, this was one of the main reasons. We knew the boys would love to go to a game and watch the boats on the bay. What we did not know was that the hapless Mets would manhandle the eventual World Champions.

The boys continued their refusal to pose for photos in SF - this time in front of the Willie Mays statue.

Otis clearly is not a Juan Marichal fan.

I was amused by the placement of the Barry Bonds picture.

These plaques line the sidewalk between the park and McCovey's Cove.

McCovey's Cove

The standing room only section is not terribly spacious.

Ready for the Mets!

They loved the view and to be honest, what's not to love?

Lunch time.

Kayak time.

Barry Zito time.

Sharing lemonade. Not a surprise that Otis is the one in charge.

Sam is very patient with his brother.

But not that patient.

Otis got more sips in while Sam got distracted by his hand.

Sujan posed while the boys fought over the last sips of the lemonade.

Otis and I went for a smoke but were thwarted.

We came back with some garlic fries though. I think I have an almost identical photo from my last trip to this ballpark back in 2000.

After garlic fries, we went downstairs and watched some of the game from the trolley. That's right - there's a trolley in the ballpark!

Ding Ding!

The Giants have an incredible play area for kids. We headed there in the 7th or 8th inning and spent the rest of the game there.

Sujan took a picture of the boys and me while I took a picture of them.

One slider at a time, dude.

Post slide bliss.

Put us in coach.

Otis wields a big (pink) bat.

He admired his long blast.

The view from the playground.

2nd at-bats. Run!

Heading home.

About to score!

A hug at home plate.

 Other things of note:
1. While we ate our fries, Otis said, "David Wright will cry because I ate his French fries."
2. A Giants fan lost a bet with his friend and on the way out asked if he could give a high five to Otis and Sam so he could make good on his bet. They obliged.
3. There was free A,T&T Wifi at the ballpark - named after the corporation. What do I get from Citibank when I go to Mets games? Nothing!
4. Jason Bay had two RBI!!!! Even more impressively, Ronny Cedeno had 5 RBI!

Mets: 52-54
Giants: 56-49
